The ceremony is one of the most important parts of your day, no matter if it lasts 10 minutes or two hours, it is where you will officially become husband and wife! In saying this, having a rehearsal to review the ceremony is equally as important to ensure that everyone involved with your ceremony is comfortable and confident in what will happen on the day of.
During a rehearsal you will run through the ceremony from start to finish so all of the kinks are worked out and questions are answered. It is important for the two of you and your bridal party to know where they are starting, where they will be standing or sitting during the ceremony and what their cue will be to start walking. If you have small children acting as flower girl or ring bearer a rehearsal will help them to see what their job is as well which can be very comforting for them. A rehearsal is also where everyone will review what each of their jobs are; such as the duties of the readers and your witnesses.
Any Wedding Coordinator or officiate will highly recommend a rehearsal, even if it cannot take place in the same location as the ceremony it will still help to greatly reduce the anxiety a ceremony can bring. We have done countless rehearsals in living rooms, backyards and basements and although we can never completely imitate the ceremony space it still allows for everyone to get an idea of what they are doing and when.
Music is a huge part of a ceremony but unfortunately most hiccups during a ceremony occur with the music. Your rehearsal will act as your test run for the music so the personal responsible for playing the music can practice fading it in and out, switching the songs and testing the volume. If you are having live music than having a recording of the song at the rehearsal will still allow the bridal party to practice with their cues.
Overall, a rehearsal will help to eliminate all of the stress and worry that everyone faces on the day of. It will make everyone involved more confident and comfortable and ensure that your ceremony runs smoothly from start to finish!
Happy planning y’all! xo
