We’re back today with another post on Planning 101 with MWS! Today we are talking about choosing a wedding venue. This is one of the biggest decisions of the planning process. You will spend a large portion of your wedding budget on your venue so you need to choose carefully. If you are on the fence about hiring a wedding planner, keep in mind this is one area where an experienced planner can save a huge amount of time, money and stress. Often wedding planners can negotiate with wedding venues to get you a better price or have the venue throw in some extras for you at no charge. These savings can add up and fast in this area. In addition, an experienced planner has worked at a majority of the venues and can say for certain what their experience has been. This is invaluable to you as a newly engaged couple. Hiring a planner could save you hours upon hours.
If you’re looking for the perfect venue for your wedding reception here are a few important things to keep in mind…
– What are their references or reviews like?
– Does this establishment answer my questions and emails/phone calls in a timely manner
– Are all of their policies and prices laid out in a contract?
Our best advice in this area is if you decide not to hire a wedding planner, do your research and trust your gut! If said company isn’t getting back to you in a timely manner before you book them, run for the hills – their customer service isn’t likely to improve once you give them a deposit. Remember you want to choose a venue that works with you and all of your vendors.
